  • I know that feel with the proprietary systems for repair. I’m a truck driver and if anything major is wrong with my Freightliner, it HAS to go to the dealership. No ands, ifs, or buts. And of course, like you said, their rates are through the roof. Mostly with these faulty and unreliable DPF systems.

  • Right to repair should be recognized on a federal level because without it, there's nothing stopping auto manufacturers from hiking up the prices of cheaply made cars and getting double for repairs either from the original buyer or the resale market. Like Tesla.

  • Look around 99 per cent of the small mechanics, are all gone. We been getting swept under the carpet for years. They've managed to get rid of us, just so the dealer ship can give it to us. Up the wallet. I could have fixed it for 50 bucks, Now a days, if I see a packy, having a problem. With his car. I just keep walking. I don't keel like getting ripped off by so, packy.

Last thing I need is the truck deciding for me. Technology going too far! Remember Ted Kasynski? The UnaBomber? His whole point was that too much technology is going to ruin the World. I don’t approve of what he did but he did have a point. Thnx. CJ

My 2007 Dodge Charger 2.7l has been an absolutely incredible ride for a long time, i have 232K miles and it still runs like a champ. That being said, its time to change my thermostat and that sucker is BURIED! why wouldnt they put it near the upper water outlet closer to the radiator? the 3.5 does and im having a heck of a time just trying to get to the housing! I believe its designed that way to make me take it to the dealer to fix. Ridiculous

Easier to estimate taxation and consumer protections. This info is from the mouth of the Director of consumer affairs in 1989. in a very large state in the know. Environmental protection, also a big part of small business demise.

  • They say recalls never expire, but that only applies if they still can get the parts. So if this is true can you sell a vehicle that has unfinished recalls to others as a private seller? My reasoning is from a 1994 Chevy C10 stock had 2 or 3 recalls on it. I used to have it till someone broke the drivers window out and took the truck for them selves.

  • People can vote with their check books, Nissan are stingy in info on their cars, buy another brand that isn't. There is heeps out their on Toyota. Also if there is no aftermarket info for independent mechanics and DIYers Then the resale on that vehicle plumets. Low resale= high depreciation = choose another brand.

  • I live in a small N. TX town with one dealer per manufacturer. The Chrysler dealer is very close to dishonest in my experience. Of course, we didn’t know that when we lived in Phoenix with several dealer choices and chose to own three Chrysler products, a 1995, 2000, and 2005. Now, I’m retired, living on SS, and trying to make my 2000 Cirrus and 2005 PT Cruiser last forever. But I can’t even get a different dealer like Toyota to work on any of my two remaining Chryslers - so if the independents are excluded, this snake in the grass Chrysler dealer is my only choice within 60 miles for my car repair. That sucks. You can't even get an estimate without first paying a stiff diagnostic fee, even if you specify the work you want done. I called and asked for a quote on replacing the clockspring in the steering column. After ten minutes wrangling with the woman at the dealer, I had got no estimate, and wasn't going to get one. I mean, don't they have books that say "2000 Cirrus, replace clockspring, 1.2 hours labor" and another computer that says "parts to replace clockspring 2000 PT, $129 Mopar, $89 Aftermarket, $49 Junkyard". But no, they want that $75+ Diagnostic fee, then they rip off something to make a fuel leak, and a simple well-defined $200-$300 repair escalates to a thousand bucks or more. That's their job, to escalate the repair bill.

The literally tried to sue louis rossman, who makes repair tutorials for apple products on youtube. And that's only the top of the iceberg.
